Jan van Dokkum

Jan is a respected industry leader with a strong track record of launching innovative technologies and scaling businesses across a wide range of sectors. Known for his inclusive and balanced leadership style, Jan has consistently aligned the interests of investors, management teams, employees, and customers to build successful, sustainable enterprises.
For nearly a decade, Jan served as an Operating Partner at Kleiner Perkins in Menlo Park, California. In this role, he worked closely with investment partners and portfolio company leadership to accelerate commercialization and scale operations for start-up and growth-stage businesses.
Prior to joining Kleiner Perkins, Jan spent seven years as President of UTC Power, a division of United Technologies Corporation. There, he led the development and commercialization of advanced energy solutions, including fuel cells, renewable power systems, and combined cooling, heating, and power (CCHP) applications for commercial buildings. He also guided UTC Power’s expansion into transportation, collaborating with leading automotive manufacturers to advance electric drive systems for cars and transit buses.
Earlier in his career, Jan spent 17 years at Siemens, including six years as President and CEO of Siemens Power Transmission & Distribution, Inc. During his tenure, he revitalized the business by integrating intelligent systems and controls into traditional power equipment such as switchgear, transformers, and regulators. His leadership returned the business to profitability and enabled strategic growth through multiple acquisitions, positioning Siemens as a one-stop provider for smart electrical power delivery systems.
